U.S. - CHINA EX-IM AGREEMENT --- In Beijing, the Export-Import Banks of the United States and China announced an agreement that will increase U.S.-financed exports to China. MAINTAINING CLOSE TIES WITH PAKISTAN --- Ex-Im Bank Chairman and President (Acting) James Lambright met with Pakistan's President, General Pervez Musharraf in October, 2005.  The meeting was just one of a series of high-level contacts that have been held between Ex-Im Bank and the Government of Pakistan both in Pakistan and in the United States.  In addition to discussing potential U.S. export transactions to Pakistan, Mr. Lambright expressed condolences in connection with the massive earthquake that had struck the region. With Ex-Im Bank support, PowerLight Corporation of Berkeley, California, partnered with K&S Consulting Group, and Deutsche Structured Finance (DSF) to build the world's largest solar photovoltaic project in Bavaria, Germany. The Bavaria Solarpark uses innovative solar tracking technology to generate clean, renewable electricity. Ex-Im Bank is providing a loan guarantee of approximately $130 million to support the export of seven GE 90-115B aircraft engines from General Electric to Emirates, an airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The transaction is the first Ex-Im Bank-supported financing for Emirates, one of the world's fastest growing airlines and a major international airline in the Middle East. The GE 90-115 B engines will be used to power Boeing 777 extended range aircraft, which provide Emirates with extra capacity for passengers and cargo. An Ex-Im Bank loan of $60 million financed the export of 10 helicopters by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. of Stratford, Conn., to Lider Taxi Aereo of Brazil. The helicopters will be used for offshore oil and gas exploration and operations, as well as passenger and cargo transport.
